Once upon a time, there was a lonely woodcutter who dreamed of making his living as a puppeteer. He brought home a block of wood with the intent of carving a marionette of his own, only to find it had come alive of its own will...

This woodcutter, of course, was a brilliant scientist who had been bereaved of his young daughter, and wished only to reclaim her. If this new child he poured everything he had into creating did enough good deeds, he assured her that one day, she could become a human girl, to heal the rift Sakura had left behind in so many hearts.

But when the woodcutter died and entrusted his most important possession to this child before she was born, one that could decide the fate of the universe if placed in the wrong hands, things became much more complicated.
